Caitlin Murphy-Films with Hidden Christian Themes

Films with Hidden Christian Themes
As the semester went on, I learned more and more movies that have religious under themes, that I would have otherwise not even notice. This sparked an interest to research more mainstream box office films with religious under themes.

As I have heard before, "The Chronicles of Narnia" is known to have a Christian undertone using main plots and characters to represent the "resurrection of Christ and the fall of Satan," (Butler, 2015). The public who noticed these religious themes were quite critical and did not appreciate its attempt.

Another film that apparently have hidden religious themes is "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" with the children performing the seven deadly sins, and being punished for them. Willi Wonka is supposed to represent God, by having the ability to punish the children for their sin in un-human ways. This conspiracy makes a lot of sense to me, and I now want to go back and re watch the film.

The last movie that caught my eye was the "Harry Potter" series. As some could heavily disagree because of it's witchcraft tendencies, Harry Potter is supposed to represent God who can heal and save everyone, as well as is always selfless and puts others first. Harry is a fan favorite by all he meets (well except the villains), so it is no wonder he is known as a God- like man.

I am now going to fall down a deep rabbit hole of movies with religious undertones, and I recommend everyone else does as well and comment what movie stuck out to you!
